What is a First Look and why you should include it in your Wedding Schedule
What is a first look you may wonder? A first look is when a couple sees each other for the first time on their wedding day. Traditionally, this happens at the wedding ceremony, however many couples are now choosing to have a more private? A first look beforehand. These make for very intimate and emotional photos as your wedding photographer captures this special moment.
As your big day approaches, you’re probably wondering if you should reserve your first look for the ceremony or include a first look in your wedding timeline!
Here are 3 excellent reasons to have your first look BEFORE your ceremony.
Intimacy
The moment you first see each other on your wedding day can be very emotional. Keeping this as a private moment between the two of you (and your wedding photographer of course!) allows you both to feel what you’re feeling without a whole crowd watching you or the pressure of remaining formal in a ceremony setting.
2. It Saves You Time
By having these beautiful photos of just the two of you before your ceremony, it saves you time afterwards. Once you have photos with your wedding party and family, you can enjoy cocktail hour or reception time with your guests! You’ll be grateful to be able to spend more time with the ones you love and to be able to enjoy a well deserved drink.
3. You Will Both Be Looking Your Best
Your hair is perfect, the outfits are clean and your makeup is fresh. Choosing to have a first look before your ceremony means you will both be looking your absolute best. This makes the photos even more romantic. Whilst the best time for your photos is definitely golden hour (when the sun is setting), by the time you get to them there’s been laughter, tears, hugs, kisses, food and champagne. So even though you will still look spectacular, you definitely won’t be as fresh as just after your hair and makeup artist has applied the finishing touches.
