It was so good talking with you. Best friends since 2017, both of you with other people, him off in Charleston, and then years later you are both back in Atlanta and single at the same time. That is a better story than most people get, and it is exactly the kind of thing a film can carry.
What stuck with me most was when you said you want to sit down and watch this back together every anniversary. That is the whole reason I work the way I do. Not a highlight reel you watch once and forget, but the actual day, kept in a form that still holds up on your tenth. And the moment I keep coming back to is the two of you alone at the first look, reading the vows you wrote for each other before anyone else has seen either of you. That is the quietest thing on the entire schedule and the easiest one to miss. I will be far enough back that you forget I am there, and close enough that every word of it lands on the audio.
The other thing I kept thinking about is that you are not planning a wedding day. You are planning a weekend. The rehearsal dinner upstairs at The Darling, the welcome party for everyone who traveled in, the ceremony and reception at Bardo, then the pool the next afternoon. You told me the guest experience matters more to you than the florals, and that getting all of your favorite people to Savannah is a huge part of this. A film built around one day would miss most of that.
One thing worth saying plainly, since your planner pointed you at Savannah vendors first: there is no travel fee on any of these. Savannah is a drive I am glad to make, and on the weekend collections I am in town Thursday through Saturday regardless, so my schedule is never a constraint on yours.

I film your weekend myself and I edit every frame of it myself. The person you talked to on our call is the person standing quietly in the back of the room during your vows.
You asked how a videographer and a photographer stay out of each other's way. I started out as a photographer, so I reach out to yours before the day, we agree on positions for the ceremony, and we trade off during portraits instead of competing for the same frame.

About the Story Session
Think of it as a video engagement session. We meet up before the wedding, just the two of you and the camera, and we spend an hour together. Part of it is practical. John gets comfortable on film early, so by the time the weekend comes around the camera already feels normal and nothing about it feels like a production. The bigger part is the story. Eight years of friendship before either of you admitted there was something else there, and then going from zero to a hundred once you did. That backstory adds something to a wedding film that no highlight reel can manufacture. It gives everyone watching a real sense of who you two are before the vows even start.

On a 120 person wedding at one venue I can cover the day alone, but a second angle on the ceremony means I never have to choose between your faces and your family's reactions.

I have spent 5 years walking alongside couples during one of the most meaningful seasons of their lives, and I have been doing this full time for 4 years. I started out as a photographer, which is why I know how to work next to your photographer without either of us getting in the other's way, or in yours. My job across your weekend is to pay attention, stay out of the aisle, and come back with the version of those three days you will actually want to watch on your tenth anniversary.
