Why I am doing this

Your gallery will have fifteen hundred photos. You will print about eight of them.

That has always been the strange math of this job. I deliver an enormous, beautiful digital gallery, and then a year later the couple sends me a photo of one frame, printed, hanging in a hallway. One frame. That is the one that mattered.

Film changes how we shoot, because it has to. Thirty six frames on a roll, no screen on the back, no second chance. So the camera comes down and the waiting starts. You hold it, you let the room happen, and when something real finally does, you take one picture of it. Every frame costs us something, which is exactly why every frame is worth keeping.

There is a reason the photos in your parents' album still stop you. It isn't the composition, and it definitely isn't the resolution. It's that film records light in a way your eye reads as remembering rather than looking. Softness where digital goes harsh. Skin that stays warm instead of going grey. A bright window behind you that still looks like a window, instead of a white blank. Your grandparents' wedding photos and your wedding photos can look like they belong in the same family, because they can be made of the same thing.

I've been quietly shooting a few rolls at weddings for a while now and giving them away, because I wanted to know if they were actually good before I ever charged for them. They came back better than the digital. Warmer, softer, and textured in a way that makes a photo feel like a memory instead of a file. So I'm making it a real offer, and I'm opening it to the first ten couples at the founders rate.

Why only ten

The first ten couples get the founders rate. That is the whole reason for the number.

No capacity story, no countdown clock. This is a brand new service, and the first ten couples to put their name on it are saying yes before anyone else has a wall full of proof. The founders rate is how I say thank you for going first. Once the tenth spot is claimed it goes to $600, which is simply what it is worth. Nothing about the service changes. Only the price, and only for the people who come after you.

The developed roll guarantee

Film is the one thing in my workflow I can't check on a screen. A roll can come back faint, or ruined by light leaking in, or completely blank. So here is how I handle that, in writing, before you ever say yes.

If a roll comes back unusable, you are not charged for it. Four rolls became three, you pay for three. All four failed, you pay nothing and the whole $400 comes back, deposit included, the day I find out.

And if the scans come back perfectly and you simply don't love them, tell me within seven days of delivery and I refund the full $400, deposit and all. You keep the files anyway. I'd rather eat the cost than have you looking at photos you didn't want.

    Nobody is standing in your getting ready room loading a camera. It is ready before we walk in, and it lives alongside the coverage you already booked without touching your digital gallery.

    Your rolls go to the lab within a week

    Hand delivered to Bellows in Atlanta for development and scanning. No mail, no tracking number, no waiting behind another couple's film.

    Scans arrive before the rest of your gallery

    Film comes back fast. Most couples see their film frames weeks ahead of the full digital delivery, which makes it the first real look at your wedding day.

The honest answers

Before you decide.

Does this take anything away from my digital photos?
No, and this is the part I would want answered too. Your hour count, your team size, your image count and every deliverable stay exactly as written in your collection. The film runs alongside it, shot by me or by the lead photographer on your team. If I ever felt a day was too tight to do both well, I would tell you before the wedding and take the film back off, not quietly shoot less digital.
How many film photos do we actually get?
100+ finished frames. Four rolls go through the camera across the day, and what comes back is whatever earned the shot. Film is unpredictable in a way digital isn't, so I quote it as a floor rather than an exact number, and I don't deliver frames I wouldn't put on a wall. If a roll comes back blank or unusable, you are not charged for it.
Can we choose what you shoot on film?
Tell me the two or three things that matter most to you and I will make sure there is a film camera in hand for them. Beyond that we would rather stay loose, because the frames that hit hardest on film are almost never the ones anybody scheduled.
Why is film worth paying extra for when digital is sharper?
Because sharper is not the same as better, and it is definitely not the same as memorable. Film handles skin tones, bright windows and a dark reception in a way digital has to be pushed into. In low light it stays soft and textured rather than harsh and speckled. Against a bright window it holds on to the detail instead of washing everything out. What you get is a picture that looks the way the day felt rather than the way it measured.
When do we pay, and can we add it later?
$200 holds your spot, and it is the only thing due now. The other $200 is added to your existing collection total and comes due with the rest of your balance. No new contract and no new retainer, just two lines added to what you already have. You can add film any time up to about a week before your wedding, as long as one of the ten spots is still open. If you are close enough to the day that your final payment has already gone out, the $400 is simply paid at once instead of split in two. Either way, the founders rate is gone the moment the tenth couple claims theirs.
What if we already have a big collection? Is this overkill?
Couples with the largest collections tend to be the ones who get the most out of this, because they already have complete coverage of the day. Film isn't more coverage. It's a short, quiet set of frames that stands apart from everything else you are going to receive.
